AIWTDS Recruitment 2025 – Environmental Specialist Vacancy

The Assam Inland Water Transport Development Society (AIWTDS), under the Transport Department of the Government of Assam, is spearheading the Assam Inland Water Transport Project, a World Bank-funded initiative aimed at transforming the state’s inland water transport services. As part of this ambitious project, AIWTDS is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Environmental Specialist.

AIWTDS Recruitment 2025 – Position Details

Name of Post: Environmental Specialist

Number of Posts: 1

Remuneration: The selected candidate will receive a consolidated remuneration of up to ₹130,000 per month or a 20% increase on their existing remuneration, whichever is less. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and competency, in accordance with AIWTDS’s HR Policy.

Period of Service: The initial contract will run until December 31, 2025, with the possibility of annual extensions based on performance, as assessed by the State Project Director, AIWTDS.

Educational Qualifications

Candidates must possess a Master’s or Postgraduate Degree in one of the following disciplines:

• Environmental Planning
• Environmental Engineering
• Environmental Sciences
• Other relevant fields

Experience Requirements

Applicants should have:

• A minimum of 8 years of experience in conducting Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), environmental modeling, and preparing Environmental Management Plans.
• Strong understanding and prior experience in implementing World Bank Environmental Safeguard policies and Environmental, Social, Health, and Safety (ESHS) guidelines.
• Field experience in assessing project site issues, vulnerabilities, and risks, as well as supervising, inspecting, and monitoring projects during implementation to mitigate and monitor environmental impacts.
• Experience working as an environmental official or expert on major infrastructure projects, preferably in the Inland Water Transport (IWT) sector.
• Proficiency in computer use for managing databases and generating reports.
• Excellent communication skills in English and Hindi; knowledge of the Assamese language is preferable.
